What is Birch Plywood?
Birch Plywood is the standard bearer when it comes to Plywood. The combination of price, looks, and strength make it an all round standout option, and something that is perfect for numerous applications. Constructed from multiple layers of thin birch veneer, it is known for being very strong. The layers are stuck together using glue. It is very pale in colour and has a fine, well-sanded finish. This means it can be customised in quite a number of ways. Further sanding is possible, as well as staining or painting. This type of plywood is also a very strong material and has excellent mechanical and physical properties.
Aesthetic Appeal: Birch plywood has a smooth, rich sheen making it the perfect choice for home furnishings or home improvements. Birch can also be left untreated or stained for a richer color providing versatility when finishing products.
Durability: Birch plywood is commonly known for its strength and stability. Three or more layers of Birch are combined together to make a single sheet of plywood, reinforcing the strength of the original piece of wood.
Safety: Birch plywood has few knots and jagged edges. Also, because it is smooth and not known to splinter or crack, birch plywood is a safe choice when making children’s furniture and toys.
Reaction to moisture: Combined with a finishing coat, clear or painted, plywood won’t soak up water and liquids as quickly or easily as MDF does so it’s less susceptible to water damage.
Consistency: The face is graded as an A Face, which gives the product an incredibly clean look with a distinct face that can be clear finished or stained. The B face may have several oval or butterfly-shaped veneer patches, which replace any knotholes. Basically, this means it is very useable and suitable for furniture making and a popular choice in modern kitchen design.
